Parametric insurance and technology adoption in developing countries

Technology adoption is crucial for the development of low-income countries. This paper investigates how parametric insurance can contribute to improving access finance, and hence technology, smallholder farmers. In a model with moral hazard, we show that bundling loans may lower collateral requirements, thus promoting financial inclusion poor households. The case agricultural input weather-index studied in detail related bundled finance solutions recently piloted among farmers Tanzania.
